Designing the Right Schedule
Why designing the right schedule is important
In the past 8 months after I moved to the Bay Area for a new job, I have not been able to work on my side projects much because of needing to work a lot for my main job. Looking back, working hard on my main job is good and helped me “survive” a company-wide layoff a few weeks ago and achieve credibility within my team. However, I also want to work on my own projects because that’s the path to my ultimate goal of achieving geographical freedom and $200K per year in passive income through a portfolio of apps. In order to achieve that, I realized that I should try structuring my time better and design the right schedule for working on my side projects.
My schedule
Since my main job becomes busy between 9am and 6pm, I’m going to focus on that between 9am and 7pm (to be safe) on weekdays. This leaves three options for working on my side projects: 1/ working in early mornings before my main job, 2/ working in evenings after my main job, and 3/ working on weekends. I’m going to try the first and third options, because I know that I usually get pretty tired after work on weekdays and I will more likely to feel tired and probably won’t be very productive anyway.
